Because of the extreme size of India, it is difficult to decide just when and where to visit as well. This was the case, much like when we planned our first visit to 🦘 Australia.
Below, is a brief introduction and a little …

India Travel Tips

The Best Time Of Year To Visit India

It’s important to time your trip correctly, as the Indian climate can certainly be; intense. Many people may struggle to cope with the intense heat in parts of the country, at certain times of the year.

The best time to visit India is between Late October, when the monsoon season draws to a close and the Middle of March.

It’s worth noting that conditions are likely to be particularly hot and humid in April and May. So if you are used to more temperate conditions, this is something you should definitely bear in mind.
The rainy monsoon season starts towards the end of; May.

Diwali Festival India

In addition, Diwali is usually held in; late October-early November each year. This festival tends to last for about ten days during that period.

“Diwali is without a doubt one of the most celebrated festivals in India. Diwali, which is also known as the festival of lights, begins on Dhanteras and ends on
Bhai Dooj.”

If you want to experience India at its most festive time, then this is when to go.

Beware sign

Beware, tourist destinations will be very busy and accommodation may be particularly expensive and hard to come by, during this period. Be sure to book your accommodations well in advance, particularly in larger cities where larger festivities are held.

It’s certainly not the time to go if you are looking for a relatively quiet trip!

Update 2025:

As per the Hindu calendar, Diwali 2025 will begin on Monday, October 20th.

“On this day, Lord Ganesh and Goddess Lakshmi are worshipped, which is
known as Diwali Puja or Lakshmi Ganesh Pujan. Diwali is the festival of lights begins
on Dhanteras and ends on Bhaiya Dooj.”

Making The Most Of Your Trip To India

Old India Travel Poster

If you are visiting India for the first time, then you might be tempted to try and squeeze as many different destinations into your trip as possible. However, given the sheer size of the country and unless you plan on visiting for a very lengthy stay, this would be very difficult.

It’s better to concentrate your first trip around one particular area, and explore that corner of India first. If and/or when you decide to visit again, you can experience another part of the country.

You just won’t be able to see absolutely everything you want to on just one trip, so it’s pointless to even try. By sticking to one part of the country, you will cover less ground, but you will be able to get better acquainted with the attractions in that particular region.
