mWell launches the Philippines’ first digital Health ID
mWell, the digital healthcare division of Metro Pacific Investments Corporation (MPIC), has officially introduced the mWell Health ID. This innovative solution is the Philippines’ first comprehensive, fully digital health identity platform. It is specifically designed to empower Filipinos by giving them secure, easy access to their complete personal health records at any time via their mobile devices. The mWell Health ID consolidates medical histories, prescriptions, laboratory results, and vaccination records in one digital location, streamlining health management for both patients and healthcare providers nationwide.

Accessible through the mWell app, the Health ID is a secure and comprehensive digital passport designed for managing all aspects of your healthcare. It stores a wide variety of personal health records, such as medical histories, doctor’s notes, and prescriptions. In addition, it contains lab and diagnostic test results, up-to-date vaccination records, emergency contact information, and any other essential medical data. The Health ID features advanced consent management and privacy settings, enabling users to authorize which specific pieces of information are shared. Patients can easily grant or revoke access to their health records for doctors, hospitals, partner clinics, and other healthcare providers. This process eliminates the need for repeated paperwork or manual record transfers, ensuring that authorized professionals have timely and accurate access to necessary health details for optimal care.

“Healthcare is a basic human right,” said mWell Chairman and Metro Pacific Investments Corporation Chairman, President and CEO Manuel V. Pangilinan. “The mWell Health ID is a crucial step towards universal healthcare, which envisions allowing all Filipinos to move through their health journeys with security and peace of mind,” Pangilinan added.
“We are honored to enable a transformative milestone in healthcare for the Philippines. Our mWell digital Health ID empowers patients with a secure, seamless, and privacy-first way to manage their health records across healthcare facilities. This innovation directly addresses the pain points of our citizens by driving accessibility, efficiency, and collaboration in our healthcare system,” said Chaye Cabal-Revilla, President and CEO of mWell and Chief Finance, Risk, and Sustainability Officer of MPIC. “Our goal is to build a future where care is reliable, data-driven, and always within reach. The digital Health ID opens a new chapter for Philippine healthcare as it represents a shift toward empowering patients and building a healthier, more connected nation.”
With the digital Health ID, patients can complete registrations at participating clinics and hospitals much faster, as their essential personal and medical information is securely stored and instantly retrievable. This eliminates the hassle of repeatedly filling out new forms at each visit. Once registered, a patient’s comprehensive medical history—including previous diagnoses, prescribed medications, detailed laboratory results, immunization records, allergies, and even past treatment summaries—is accessible to authorized providers across different health facilities within the mWell network. This secure, digital portability streamlines healthcare delivery, minimizes redundant paperwork, and allows clinicians to access the most up-to-date and complete information. As a result, duplicate testing and administrative errors are reduced, continuity of care is improved, and doctors are empowered to make more accurate, timely, and personalized medical decisions based on a holistic view of the patient’s health journey.
“Interoperability of health records has always been one of the biggest challenges in our healthcare system,” said Dr. Raymond Sarmiento, Chief Operating Officer of mWell. “By putting health records in the hands of every Filipino, we create stronger connections between patients and providers. The Health ID is a secure and patient-centered solution that strengthens the health system by making medical data portable, reliable, and truly useful to patients.
Bringing the Universal Health Care Act to life
The introduction of the Health ID is a critical initiative that upholds the goals set forth in the Universal Health Care Act – Republic Act 11223. This legislation aims to guarantee that every Filipino citizen can access high-quality healthcare services that are both affordable and equitable. The Health ID supports this vision by providing a secure digital platform for storing and accessing patients’ medical information. Through advanced encryption and data protection measures, it ensures the confidentiality and integrity of health records. Additionally, by enabling efficient, secure, and seamless sharing of health data among accredited healthcare providers and institutions, the Health ID helps bridge a major gap in the current healthcare system. Traditionally, reliance on paper-based records and disparate patient databases has led to significant fragmentation, obstructing the flow of vital health information and hindering coordinated patient care. The Health ID directly addresses these issues by creating a unified, interoperable system that streamlines communication, enhances healthcare delivery, and helps medical professionals make better-informed decisions for their patients.
Expanding healthcare access across the country
With the acquisition and integration of KonsultaMD, mWell has established itself as the Philippines’ leading digital health platform, offering a comprehensive suite of healthcare services. The mWell app enables patients to consult with thousands of licensed primary care doctors and specialists from across the country, 24/7, via secure virtual teleconsultations. Users receive digital e-prescriptions, lab referrals, and medical certificates, all of which can be easily accessed and shared with other healthcare providers through the app. The platform is designed to accommodate patients from all walks of life, including seniors, persons with disability, members of Indigenous communities, and those residing in geographically isolated areas. In addition to medical consultations, mWell provides health education, preventive care tips, and wellness programs, using advanced technology to make healthcare more accessible and convenient, and reducing the need for time-consuming and costly visits to hospitals or clinics.

As a fully integrated healthcare ecosystem, mWell not only streamlines patient care through its digital platforms but also enhances hospital and clinic operations with the innovative mWell HealthSuite. This comprehensive system introduces advanced digital management tools for healthcare providers, including efficient electronic medical records, scheduling solutions, and billing systems. Through HealthHub, patients can easily book appointments online, reducing wait times and simplifying access to care. Moreover, mWell provides on-site healthcare services at its state-of-the-art Primary Care Facility in Bacoor, Cavite, delivering quality in-person consultations and treatments.
In collaboration with the Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT), mWell has rolled out the pioneering mWell OnTheGo Clinic-In-A-Bag, a portable telemedicine solution designed to reach underserved populations. These clinics are deployed in remote communities, serve bedridden patients at home, support Indigenous Peoples in geographically isolated areas, and assist soldiers stationed in conflict zones—ensuring continuous access to healthcare where traditional services are unavailable. To further bridge healthcare gaps, mWell has launched a drone-powered medicine delivery program to supply much-needed medications to isolated and hard-to-reach islands. Additionally, the innovative BangkaHealth initiative utilizes small boats to deliver telemedicine services to residents of houses on stilts in Sulu, ensuring that even floating villages have access to medical consultations and support. Collectively, these efforts demonstrate mWell’s commitment to reaching and caring for the country’s most marginalized and hard-to-access populations.
As a proud member of the MPIC Group, mWell works diligently to contribute to the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals, with a particular focus on SDG 3: Good Health and Well-being. The company also actively participates in the MVP Group’s Gabay Kalusugan advocacy, which is dedicated to promoting quality, affordable healthcare services for all Filipinos, regardless of their location or socioeconomic status.
