4 Exciting New Ways To Use Uber While Traveling This Summer

Remember when riding with strangers was taboo?

Welp. Those days are long gone.

Across the globe, we can all push a button to ride along with someone we’ve likely never met before.

It’s become such a societal norm, not only do we trust randoms with our personal safety on high-speed roadways, but also to deliver our food without sneaking a fry or two.

Jokes aside, Uber has been a godsend for many who prefer to get to work without sitting in a grimy public bus seat or taking the all too familiar risk that “the meter is broken” in a cab.

We at Travel Off Path all use Uber in our travels, whether to get to a cozy cafe and bang out an article for you folks or to send us off on our next adventure.

The rideshare industry has grown tremendously, particularly Uber. While most users seem to be in the swing of things by now, Uber is actually growing even more, recently announcing 4 new exciting ways to use their app when traveling this summer.

Uber Eats’ Version Of Room Service

We’ve all been there – a crazy travel day resulting in wanting to do nothing but lay in bed, doom-scroll, and pig out.

As such, the last thing you want to do is go back down to the lobby to get your food. Well, Uber got the memo.

The latest Uber Eats app feature will be their version of room service. No, don’t expect a hot meal to be delivered bedside on a silver platter, but all you’ll have to do is open your door – and voilah!

Pizza, burgers, tacos, sushi, or whatever is on the menu, will be waiting at your doorstep.

You can now choose to meet your courier downstairs, have it left with a lobby attendant, or delivered directly to your room (assuming this abides by hotel policy).

It’s hard to imagine the Four Seasons would allow delivery drivers to roam their property freely, so it’s reasonable to expect some hiccups with the new rollout.

Popular U.S. Airports Receive Uber Shuttle

The test run was a success at both John F. Kennedy International Airport and LaGuardia Airport, so there will soon be another popular airport receiving Uber Shuttle.

Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport has rounded out the trio of airports Uber Shuttle serves.

The shuttle can be booked like you would any ride, except you’ll click “Shuttle” from the drop-down menu instead of UberX, for example.

Shuttle rides can be booked as early as 7 days in advance and even last-minute in you’re in a bind (up to 5 minute before the shuttle departs).

Once you see the van in route via GPS, be prepared to present your QR code and be on your way to either Atlanta, Laguardia or JFK with more airports surely to be serviced in the near future.

Uber Share Is Expanding To Save You Money

As if riding with one stranger wasn’t disconcerting enough, the more the merrier, right?

If you’re unfamiliar with Uber Share, it’s a cheaper carpool concept for budget Uber-ers.

Rather than guarantee a ride for yourself on UberX or Uber Comfort, for example, Uber Share might stop along the way to pick up riders with similar routes.

Though, when departing from the airport on an Uber Share ride, it’s likely you may hop in together, which can save up to 20% off the fare.

Uber Share is expanding to more than 40 airports worldwide, including the following U.S. airports:

  • Boston (BOS)
  • Chicago (MDW)
  • Dallas (DAL)
  • Fort Lauderdale (FLL)
  • Indianapolis (IND)
  • Nashville (BNA)
  • Philadelphia (PHL)
  • Washington D.C. (DCA)

Easily Rent A Car Through Uber

Uber Rent might be the groundbreaking company’s most unique concept yet.

Rather than add on a journey to the rental lot after a long flight, Uber Rent allows users to have the vehicle of their choice delivered right to their office, hotel, or home, and even offering the option to have it picked it up when they return.

Uber Rent now serves 24 U.S. cities in total after 15 city expansion. Think of this service as a third-party headache reducer as you’ll still rent the vehicle from a name-brand agency, such as Hertz or Enterprise booked through Uber’s app by selecting the “Rent” tab.
